Swiftair are approved by the CAA under British Civil Airworthiness Requirements, Section A8-20 to carry out maintenance and restoration of former Military aircraft, basically this is aircraft such as the Harvard, Spitfire or indeed any other piston engine aircraft operating on a former military permit to fly such as the SF260.  We do not limit restoration to just these types however and have also recently carried out complete and partial restoration on LAA permit aircraft.

We have several years of experience in maintaining and operating Harvard’s and have some of our own repair and modification schemes approved for these types which include remanufacture of new wing bolting angles, we are possibly the only company in the world currently making these parts, and also the use of alternative material for skin repairs.

Our restoration work is carried out in a separate part of the hanger and we have a variety of jigs available to use from re-skinning a tail plane halve to a complete fuselage.  We also do all our own fabric work and painting making use of Swiftair’s purpose built spray booth.

Please do have a look at the current and past projects pages under the restoration tab.
